To celebrate your sponsored Mobile Mammography visit, promote your involvement by:

• Bringing treats to the office (i.e. pink-iced cupcakes or cookies)
• Encouraging employees to wear pink
• Sharing information internally about the importance of early breast cancer detection and scheduling yearly mammograms
• Posting messages, pictures and video on social media. We'll help with pictures and will produce a video of your sponsored visit to share.

Your Screen Team involvement benefits the community, but it's also a great opportunity to raise awareness within your organization about the importance of annual mammograms and early detection.

24 Nebraskans are diagnosed with breast cancer each week.

This year, more Nebraskans will be diagnosed with breast cancer than any other type of cancer. Access to mammograms for early detection and treatment of breast cancer has never been more important.

Yet...

• Nebraska ranks a low 40th in the nation in the percentage of women 40 and older who report having a mammogram within the past two years. (Only 65% of women in Nebraska 45 and older have had a mammogram in the last two years.)
• The Omaha area has seen a downward trend over the last several years.
• Sections of Douglas and Saunders Counties have been named priority screening access areas due to dramatically higher rates of late-stage breast cancer diagnosis and death due to breast cancer.

• In 2020, an estimated 276,480 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in women in the U.S. as well as 48,530 new cases of non-invasive (in situ) breast cancer.
• 64% of breast cancer cases are diagnosed at a localized stage (there is no sign that the cancer has spread outside of the breast), for which the 5-year survival rate is 99%.
• 1 in 8 women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime.
• Although rare, men get breast cancer too. In 2020, an estimated 2,620 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year in the U.S.
• Breast cancer is the most common cancer in American women, except for skin cancers. It is estimated that in 2020, approximately 30% of all new women cancer diagnoses will be breast cancer.
